Aurendir, from Ultima VI
When the Avatar met Aurendir, he was a simple shepherd who made a living from the wool he sold. He told the Avatar that he used to be a rich powerful mage, but after meditating at the Shrine of Humility, he decided to give up all worldly possessions. He didn't seem to regret giving away his fine clothes and jewels, and was content with the simple wool robe he now wore. He told the Avatar that the mantra of humility was 'lum', and that he wished to some day return to the Shrine of Humility.
Despite Aurendir's professed modesty, he still kept several gems and magical jewellery hidden in a crate in his small house.
