[edit] Description
The dragon cave of Dungeon Destard, situated in the mountains west of Trinsic. A very, very dangerous place. A lot of the Dragons and Drakes of Britannia call the warm caves of Destard their home and breeding place, and they react extremely violently to intruders into their home, which usually ends in the destruction of the intruders by their fiery breath and powerful magics. Many adventurers had entered Destard in pure greed, only to regret it very quickly after meeting its inhabitants, as a lot of human remains are silent witness of.
Because of its inhabitants, Destard can only be mastered by expert adventurers with very good equipment. However, should the inhabitants be overcome, the huge dragon treasures await the adventurer after all these perils.
[edit] History
The Anti-Valor Dungeon of Destard was first entered in Ultima IV. The Red Stone was found in it, and the mystic spheres in it gave one experience boost and it connected to one of the altar rooms. It was a natural cave system filled with nasties. After the end of the Quest of the Avatar, the Great Council sealed the dungeon, to lock in the horrors in it.
New monsters settled in the dungeon in Ultima V, when Destard again was visited. The Avatar yelled the Word of Power "INOPIA", learned from Goeth, to open the entrance. It connected to the Underworld, where the Amulet was found. After that time, the Dragons invaded Destard, killed all of the monsters living in the caves, making Destard their home, and it became a dragon cave. In Ultima VI, the Avatar entered Destard to retrieve some dragon eggs for Sandy, so that he would reveal information.
The Avatar entered Destard the dragon cave in Ultima VII to find Fellowship funds as ordered by Batlin, but the chest was empty. He/she also met Lasher the Unicorn, and the adventurers Cosmo, Kaebre and Kalibrus in Destard.
[edit] Trivia
- Destard and Shame are swapped in Ultima IX.
[edit] Destard in Ascension
Destard hasn't changed much. It is still a dragon cave, although half of the dungeon is quite different, Talonia is the only dragon here. Talonia attacked the city of Dawn and half the population wanted to appease the dragon while the other half wanted to fight. These people were betrayed and all killed. The task in this dungeon is to collect the five colored pieces of an eggshell and place them on the pillars. Once done the barrier to Talonia's cave is opened and the Avatar can now confront her and kill her. Talonia is the only Red Dragon in the game. Her head is needed to convince the gate guard in Valoria that you are the Avatar. Once you have killed Talonia her treasure room is open to you. Here you will find gold, gems, jewelry and the "Chest of the Ogre". This chest is a magical armor that regenerates the wearers health. The far end of one passage in the dungeon leads to a gem mine where the gems are so numerous you could fill your pack with them and still have gems left over.
The Wyrmguard at the column is a real nut. If you taunt him as a coward he will open the column for you and beg for his life.
