Gruman is a knight of Trinsic in Ultima V.
When the Avatar met him, Gruman spoke of how he kept up the order in Trinsic, while waiting for a sign of their true ruler, Lord British. This sparked the Avatar's interest, thus asking Gruman for the mantra of Honor. Gruman saw that the Avatar stood for the true virtues, and thus revealed the mantra of Honor: SUMM.
Gruman also tested the Avatar's Honor by asking if the hero's blade had taken a life. When the Avatar said yes, Gruman asked, if it had been for a just and honorable cause.
