Hagbard is the leader of the human Outcasts living on the first level of the Abyss.
The Avatar found him in Ultima Underworld I inside the outcast encampment that Bragit had pointed out. Hagbard was somewhat cynical, saying "falsely accused every one of us" when the Avatar claimed innocence to all crimes. Yet he was the most clear-headed of the outcasts of the first level.
Hagbard told the Avatar that he'd seen the Troll carrying Arial deeper into the Abyss, and that Baron Almric's guards had given chase, correctly guessing that they had been killed. Hagbard told the Avatar of the feud between the green and grey Goblins, and warned that some Goblins had gone rogue, preying on people in the corridors.
He was later rescued by Garamon when the volcano erupted.
