Peary, an American explorer, is best known for his trek to the North Pole. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1881, first travelled into the interior of greenland in 1886, and reached the North Pole in 1909. Shortly after being stranded on the red planet, Peary embarked on an expedition to its north polar region. His discoveries there marked a turning point in events on Mars.
