Stone Gargoyles attack the Avatar

Monsters unique to Ultima V, two Stone Gargoyles appear at first as inanimate statues flanking the doorway that leads to the Crown of Lord British in the Palace of Blackthorn. As soon as the Avatar draws close to them, however, they come to life and attack.

These gargoyles multiply when struck, much like Slime, and are capable of throwing rocks at a distance.

They bear no relationship to the Gargoyles of Ultima VI, and seem to more resemble an early version of Stone Harpies.
