Kane is a shepherd and the brother of Edrin. Somewhat of a simpleton, he tries to find his way through life.
One day, Edrin was hit by a transmutation bolt cause by the Teleport Storms and turned into Ale the parrot. Kane had no idea of this, but in the end came to the conclusion that maybe the mages of Moonshade could shed light into this affair. However, he was stuck in the Inn of the Sleeping Bull after Captain Hawk got arrested by the pikemen of Monitor.
In Ultima VII Part Two, Kane told the whole, strange story to the Avatar. After the Avatar had managed to get Hawk free, they all went to Moonshade, where Kane asked the mage Gustacio for help. However, it wasn't until the Avatar had returned from the Mountains of Freedom, that the mystery was resolved and Edrin returned to human form. Kane was astonded that he'd been Ale the parrot.
However, their happiness was short-lived, since only days later, Shamino the Anarch invaded Moonshade, killing Kane and Edrin.
