A closed-off part of the sea, Lock Lake east of Britain, and south of the Bay of Lost Hope, is a beautiful place, quiet and peaceful. At its shores lie the town of Cove and the Shrine of Compassion.
In Ultima IV, it was possible to use a Whirlpool to enter the lake with a ship (but not in later ages). By the time of Ultima VII, the lake had become extremely polluted, but a law passed by Miranda stopped this. By Ultima Underworld II, the inhabitants of Cove were still busy with cleaning the lake.
