Lord Michael is the lord of Empath Abbey during Ultima V.
Lord Michael told the Avatar that the three castles of virtue were opposed to Blackthorn's regime, and the Shadowlords weren't able to enter them, not even the lord of hatred. When the Avatar asked about that particular Shadowlord, Michael told the Avatar to seek out Sin'Vraal, the gargoyle living in the Drylands for this matter.
After being told by Bidney of Buccaneer's Den that Lord Michael had his grapple, the Avatar returned and asked Lord Michael for it. Michael was willing to give it to the Avatar, since right at the moment he wouldn't do much mountain-climbing, telling the Avatar of the grapple's limitations.
