Marney, from Ultima VI
Marney always had been a little sickly, and the story of her family was a sad one. Her mother was killed when pirates sold her into prostitution, and her father Quenton was murdered by Michael, who then tried to get close to her. She was raised by Yorl, the closest friend of her father, helping him at the docks.
When the Avatar met her in Ultima VI, she told him that her father had been the keeper of the Rune of Spirituality, and she didn't know where it was. A poem gave the Avatar a hint, and after Marney allowed it, the hero searched her basket, and found the rune there. In the end her sickness caught up with her, and she died even before the destruction of Skara Brae. Yorl built a tomb for her that the Avatar visited in Ultima VII.
- Marney's tomb has a secret, that smart players who are very observant, can find out.
- Quenton wouldn't make the ultimate sacrifice, as he knew that Marney's spirit was in the Well of Souls, and didn't want to harm her.
- While Ultima VII mentions how Marney always had a frail health, it is never hinted in Ultima VI at all.
