Sin Vraal

Sin Vraal is the first Gargoyle the Avatar meets, though at the time of Ultima V he is thought to be a Daemon--Gargoyles had never been heard of. Sin Vraal tells the Avatar he once served the Shadowlord of Hatred: Astaroth, until Lord British taught him the ways of Virtue. Sin Vraal fled his servitude and went to live in the Drylands of Britannia. The Avatar learns Astaroth's name from him in Ultima V.

Sin Vraal is officially identified as a Gargoyle in Ultima VI. He still lives where he was in Ultima V, but says nothing of that last meeting. He says he used to live with the other Gargoyles, but even though he is winged he cannot fly due to an injury or lameness. Because he cannot fly, he was treated as one of the inferior wingless, and so he departed the Underworld to seek his fortune.

He does not appear after Ultima VI, and the site of his house is replaced by the Gargoyle/Human village of Vesper.
