Verification of several facts[]

I'm new to whatever this is so I don't know how complete it is. I thought I'd bring these up in discussion:

  1. What makes him violent? He's certainly brusque, but I can't find any indication that he's performed any violence, or spoken in favour of it.
  2. How do we know how successful he is? There is some other text on the transcript page with his name on it, but, alas, it's not in a language I know :( Is it because he calls his shop "'uge" or himself a great craftsman? Does it look huge? I'm not sure his opinion of its size or his ability is enough.
  3. What makes him proud of his hideous weapons? He did characterize them as the most hideous, but when asked about them, he doesn't want to talk about them.
  4. I can't find any indication of his attitude about the destruction his products cause.

I've brought this up elsewhere, but I wouldn't trust that page as a definitive resource. Characters are often missing at least a couple of dialogue branches, and Gherick is no exception. With the complete dialogue via U6Edit as my reference, my thoughts are these:
  1. You're certainly right about this. Brusque is also the perfect word to describe him, I'd say.
  2. Yeah, this seems like an assumption. Perhaps it could instead be stated that he holds himself in high regard.
  3. This is where the German page is missing a fairly telling line of dialogue. If your karma is less than 40 when you ask about the weapons, he actually says, "I ain't gonna tell you, you'd steal me brilliant ideas!"
  4. Nor can I. With the previous point in mind, I guess I could see how someone might interpret it that way, but I don't agree with the sadistic image it paints. I feel it's not particularly accurate.

Hmm... seems that the transcript catalogue needs to reflect this apocrypha. Maybe it should also include that U6Edit link.
It seems that #1 is all wrapped up, so I'll change that. Terilem's opinion about #2 appears to be related to #3. How did you know about that karma mechanism? Does U6Edit tell you that much? I think I'll wait for more consensus (or manifest indifference) before acting on #2-4. AngusM 03:17, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, U6Edit lets you view every conversation laid out in code form, i.e. "if KARMA > 40 then" etc. It's very handy for catching branches of dialogue that could be missed in normal gameplay. --Terilem 03:37, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
